“Many years ago, on a Mediterranean summer visit, my sister wore a t-shirt with a print which is the inspiration for this painting. She is no longer with us. I doubt I would remember this t-shirt if she was still alive. What is not in the painting is what makes it the painting it is.”

“Wedding in Tuscany. My best friend married my sister at a palazzo resting on a Tuscan hilltop. Twenty-eight family members gathered for four days. Untroubled joy, and the quiet reflections that we are fortunate, and that time is limited. I spent a lot of time watching the fountain in the Palazzo garden and the goldfishes swimming in the fountains basin, with the Tuscan landscape in the background. One evening, a cat came and sat beside me on the edge of the basin.“
